Dead People Breath - Update

So yeah, i know i just posted the first Dead People Breath blog BUT i got a quick reply to it so i must update it!

We NOW have -drum roll please [no pun included]-

Bass/Bass Guitar/Piano/Vocals - Angela

Electric Guitar - Morgan

Vocals - Ashley

Drums - Josh

Now this doesn't mean we don't need more or other types of drums but we need other instruments more so if you want to try out contact me and I'll fit you in my schedule!

Dead People Breath

I wrote a song today and said to myself,

"Angela, you've got some talented friends around you, you should start a band!" And i answered myself like, OK I will! So i have begun the band, Dead People Breath [don't ask why we are dead and breath i don't know]

Right now we have:

Bass Guitar/Piano/Vocals - Angela N. Tharp

Electric Guitar - Morgan

Vocals - Ashley

so yeah, we need some major parts here!

We need -according to the song a wrote today- a drummer -for both reg and bass drums-
violin player, piano play [because i want to just play the Bass and Bass Guitar] and perhaps a second Guitar player or any instrument that is amazing [in other words all of them].

If you are interested contact me via Blogspot. That means comments or email!

I'm open to any one so long as you can audition!

Closing the book on the final chapter of summer college.

I can't believe it's over! I'm so sad i want to cry! I guess I'll get the last post over with -sniff sniff-

On our way up the four flights of stairs i was kind of sad, but i guess I'll have to get on with life without that tired exercice. We started off in another class room today. Right away we started writing about anything and everything. We were instructed to let our minds step away and let the words flow. I came up with a new idea that I'll surly continue!

Than we took a item from the front and wrote a short story about. I'm all most done with mine and wont tell you the item because it should be obvious once you read it. When i'm done I'll be sure to post it in my writing area.

After we were kicked into our old room we were given snacks -yay snacks!-. Yuxi, Jesus, Suhaylah and I all were called into the Honors Lounge to practice for later. The lounge was nice and we did good, it was a fun little practice. When we got back to the class it was time for the picture slide show. I look HORRIBLE in pictures... After them, though, Adam sung us a song so that was good!

At lunch we did another stupid worksheet and than drew hands that we got to write all over....pointless but fun.

Art was spent getting ready for the gallery. That was hard for me because i had SOOO much art to work with! Eventually i decided on three pieces and i got them all ready and hung up. For the rest of the time i let my mind wander. It took me to many fun place that you'll all hear about later!

After that it was time for fun before the final ceremony. We went into the game room and played pool! I Chinese torchered [where the nail is pulled from the skin on your fingers] myself with my nails -sniff sniff- it hurts still! After an hour or so we went into the dinner. It was fun, the food was good, and i ended up sitting with my friend Mary and her family without knowing it! It seemed to drown on but i don't mind, i liked it.

After i read my piece the claps were so loud! I felt really good about it! I like reading in front of people now. Yuxi was good too, i went after here. After me was Suhaylah and i love her poem. Jesus is always awesome so why should i post that AGAIN, oh wait, because he's awesome enough for it hah! The rest of the night moved quickly after that. Some physics PowerPoint's, some awards, and a lot of talking. It was really interesting! I'm so sad its over ...

Don't think this is the end of my daily blog, oh no sir-ie! I plan on posting as often as i can!

Until next post, this has been Angela N. Tharp, the newly published short story author and artist!

Second to last day....

I can't beleive everything is ending. I'm so sad. Today was great but the thought of it ending is heart breaking.

I went to writing this morning and we spent our time writing to music and editing each other's works. We got to listen to Mr. Fairman's band for a moment. Some music was just music, some was music and poetry. I ended up writing three poems and starting a short story. Then we had to write down five nouns and swich them up to make a prompt. I ended up starting an interesting short story. At the end of class i found out that I am going to be reading at the dinner for sure tomorrow, but only have two minutes to read four pages. I stayed late and got to hear Adam, a TA, sing a song he wrote. It was pretty good! the beat he was singing to was off though. When we walked to my next class we had to use his getto umbrella, that thing was awesome!

In connections we danced again today. We learned swing, caribian, Cleveland Shuffle, and yoga today. I had to dance with Adam during the swing part, it was funny. He was over ensentric.

In art we finished up our projects for the art gallery tomorrow. I paint-printed a picture for my mum and hopfully she'll like it. It's going to be my final in the gallery. i also made a heart for my boyfriend! Thomas, the TA, was not happy to find out we had to make a thank you card to some snobby rich people for giving up a few dollors so we could have our summer instatute. I kind of agree, but am still thankful because I'd be bored without college.

Well that's all I can think of... see everyone next time!

Bye from Angela N. Tharp

My Japanese Coach - Game Review

I have recently been playing My Japanese Coach on the Nintendo DS. Seeing as I already knew some Japanese [as with any language you can never say you know most or a lot of it] I was expecting it to be boring and easy in the beginning. I found myself quite interested when I saw that they test you in order to see what level you should be on. I myself was started on a farther in level.

I also liked the feature that aloud you to go back and learn or review past lessons. All in all the game was mostly good. I will post the goods and bads of the beginning of the game now and add on the rest later because it's late and I am rather tired.

Good

*Tests you to see what level you are on
*Is interactive
*Hands on learning, even if through a hand held game system
*Helpful in the sense of seeing how the words are written and hearing how they are meant to sound.
*Games are interactive and fun, but not too easy

Bad

*Even if you know some words, if you skip lessons you might be skipping important words.
*Is easy to put down and doesn't make you want to focus on it for a long while
*Gives no real life simulations that would be needed to help motivate you to learn and remember
*It can be hard to understand the recording and can seem overwhelming to some

Now I will give a list of the first lessons words just so everyone knows what i'm talking about.

Lesson One:

Good - ii - いい
Bad - dame - だめ
Yes - hai - はい
No - iie - いいえ
Hello - konnichiwa - こんいちわ

Goodbye - sayounara - さようなら
This - kore - これ
That - sore - それ
Thank you - arigatou - ありがとう
I (formal) - watashi - わたし

I hope you all liked my first game review for My Japanese Coach! I had fun talking about it and will put up another one later on. That one will have more information about the whole game in it for you all!

So this has been Angela N. Tharp [or Anjeru in Japanese] and I hope everyone wants to learn Japanese now!

さようなら!

Second Field Trip!

Today the writers [and artists] went to the play house. It was spectacular!

But, before that we were in class and got to meet Dr. Scott G. Miller [a playwright] He was a nice man. We read a crappy play that he wrote to be crappy to show us what not to do. He also works at CSA so I might be seeing him more often. He got us to start thinking of ideas for a play. Eventually he made me write the beginning of mine on the board and then at the end of class we performed it. It was rather funny. Since i had written it quickly, editing as i went, i had horrid hand writing. The people acting out my characters could read their lines. It was funny!

All in all it was a good morning. During lunch we had an open mic time and i read two of my pieces. I was glad when everyone liked them, or at least i hope they did!

After that we left for the play house. we got two tours. One of PBS and Imaginary Inc [or something of that nature] and then of the play house and theaters themselves. It was rather interesting and i was happy to go! I liked looking at the old art of the building and the art work that was brought into it. Some was from Italy, England, France, all over the world. It was magical. I hope to go there again someday.

Two days of College

I was so busy working on a few stories that i was unable to post yesterday. Today I'll just do a few quick over views.

Monday [yesterday] we had a guest author come into writing. Her name was Liz Rosenburg and she is the author of many children books, young adult books, poems books, and an adult novel. She had us walking all around campus working to see and find information that could be put into our writing. She had us focusing on dialogue and scenery. We each wrote a piece that consisted of a family fight scene. Mine was of a young man barging into a home. I will, as always, post it in my writing blog.

Later that day they made us do a cruel thing. We had to...[dun dun dun] Dance! They taught us three dances. The mambo, a dance done at Jewish weddings, and line dancing.

In art we got the right to do anything in printmaking. I chose to do paint-print [where you paint a picture on glass or plastic and print it onto paper- Most of them turned out good. I did roses, a book cover, and scenery.

Today [Tuesday] we were in the computer lab. We had to write a short story or poem that could be submitted into publication for the writing course. I will not be posting this short story until AFTER Friday since it is be published. We also wrote a poem about where we feel safest. I WILL post this one. It was a very good day!

At lunch we were but into groups and had to chose a leader from history. My group chose Julius Caesar and dressed Jesus in a toga. Going against history a bit, we gave him a katana because it looked better! He ended up wearing it out of the lunch room and across the street to the art studio.

In art we were again aloud to do as we wished. i experimented with fabrics and paint-printing. I got a few good ones done and a Japanese painting done as well. I was happy to hear that the teacher wished to select a few of my pieces to be published in the book as illustrations. I can't wait to find out if any of my work is selected.

I'll tell you all what happens!

Until next post, this has been Angela N. Tharp.

CSU - Sadness

I can't believe it's the last day of the first week. I'm really going to miss this class!

Today i went around and took pictures of everyone for my website! Dr. Weems was here again and we did a oral play. My small group of four did a funny murder story. Yuxi was an abusive mother who beat her twelve year old daughter. When her daughter ran away, she goes to a house occupied by Sweeny Todd's cousin, Mr. Sweeny. While the girl plays with a doll, Mr. Sweeny kills her by repeatedly hitting her in the head with a candle holder. When her mother appeared, she scared Mr. Sweeny away and saw her dead daughter. she was upset that her daughter was dead by someone else's hands.

Everyone thought it was dramatic, funny, and surprising! We were happy with it since we thought it would suck at first. We also worked on writing poems about the ocean or the rain forest. I liked the idea, and wrote a poem about the unforgiving sea. I liked the poet being here and I'll miss her now that shes gone.

At art we started working on more detailed printing. I'm still designing my idea and am not sure which of my two ideas to you. I'll figure it out though! I stayed lat and started painting a portrait of a rose. I messed it up, but i still like it ^^ I'll post those later!

I'm going to go mope over how my two weeks are almost up!

Until next post, this has been Angela N. Tharp!

CSU - Four Golf

Today was exciting! We had a guest poet come in today and she was interesting. Her methods were different and interestingly appealing. I was set in a group with four people. Yuxi was one of them. The poet. Dr. Mary E. Weems, had us do a project called G. I. G. O. Get it in get it out.

It was very interesting. I'll post my random words on my writers blog. She liked my words, and thought she heard a poem in them. I was happy and even happier when she told us to write in pairs about some hats. Yuxi and I decided to work together! We began a story, her writing the male view i writing the female, and are still working to get it done. We'll be finishing soon though so no worries, you can all read it soon!

After that activity we had to write about someone we knew that had died. I wrote about a friend of mine that had just died in April. Everyone, i wouldn't say liked it, but were interested by it. We ended the day writing a image paragraph. She had loud music, some of it was good the rest was annoying.

We played golf after lunch. Since i had played before i found it pretty easy. After that it was off to art. I didn't feel well for a while, sitting in the window in the bathroom for a few minutes. But after getting some cool air, i headed toward Art. I finished my carving and printed a good copy. After that I started carving out a new piece for a shadow image. While i was doing that we started debating things. The topics moved from Religion to Gender, all the way to art [weird, talking about art in art class... who'da thunk it!]

Toward the end of class, when everyone else left, Frankie, a very interesting girl, started drawing a nude drawing of a young woman. She wanted a little help with making it more realistic so i helped her out. I gave her some details to add or take away. It ended up working out very well. I liked it and it seemed very beautiful! I was happy to help.

All in all my day ended very well.

Cleveland School of the Arts - HELP

So I was talking with my college teacher person today. He works at Cleveland School of the Arts during the normal school year. I've wanted to go to that school for a while and I hope that it is possible to go there. The thing is you have to audition for it. I know i can write and draw but i don't know if i'm good enough yet to do that.

Thus is why I am posting to you all. Please please give my your opinion by either seeing my art on other sites or going to my writing blog [http://your-entering-the-world-of-word.blogspot.com/] and reading my writing, on whether or not you think i'm good enough to audition to a school and actually get in!

I'm really excited and would love to go to this school so please i need the encouragement and the guidance so i know if i have to improve upon anything first!

Thank you and I am internally grateful to anyone that replies!

Until next time, this has been Angela N. Tharp

Field Trip day at College #1

Today we started earlier. We had to be there at 8:15am, though the class didn't start until 8:45. Our writing class was longer by double because the rest of the day was planed for a field trip -we'll get to that later-.

So today in writing we awaited our guest author/poet. I shalt tell her name because she wasn't to come in today [tomorrow and Friday instead] and it would ruin the fun of later posts to tell you now! As we awaited her, for we did not know she wasn't coming yet, we read our poems from the day before [remember you can read all my college work at my writing blog: http://your-entering-the-world-of-word.blogspot.com/]. It was interesting and everyone seemed to like my poem and the way it portrayed fear and yest beauty.

While everyone was reading there's i found my hand was writing. I wrote another poem that they aloud me to read for the class. I asked everyone for a title idea, because i didn't like mine. They helped me very well and the piece is now titled Against the Night Sky. After we finished we found out our guest would not be showing so we headed in a new direction. We broke out the crayons and construction paper and started drawing.

I had no inspiration for a drawing at the time and ended up just making a poster of randomness. When we were done we were to walk around and either draw inspiration from one another or from our own work for a story, poem, etc. I chose my own. One of the random things on my poster was of a pair of eyes surrounded by fire. I spent my time writing a short story titled Fire Eyes.

After thus we went on our field trip. We went to MOCA -the museum of contemporary art- and looked at regional art work. It was highly interesting and I may do a blog about it at a later time. We also went to a museum that had all ink print work by Andy Warhol. It was very interesting. On our last leg of the trip, we went and saw the Thinker in all its destroyed glory. We also went to a lagoon where i was inspired to write another rather long short story and draw a sketch of a weeping willow -i love weeping willows as you will find out the more you read about me-

After we got back from our trip I was to stay for another hour as i awaited the arrival of my mum from work. I was able to talk to my art instructor about our day and my works in both art and writing. She also was nice and lent me five quarters for a drink because i was dying. I have to pay her back..... note to self...oh wait its already written now ok that works!

That's all for today.

until the next post, this was Angela N. Tharp

CSU - The second day!

Thus started my second day of college. I was, once again, highly interested to attend the classes. This morning was early, so early that i sat in a bored slumber in the lobby, sitting and awaiting the four flights of stairs that i knew i had to climb.

When it finally came time to climb the mountain of stairs, i was ready. Or so i thought. It still tiered me out. Oh well.

Today in writing class [oh writing class of writing class where for art thou writing class] we started off with writing a Truth, Lie, and Secret. I'll tell you mine!

Truth - It is possible to survive in Antarctica

Lie - Once every 10,000 years Atlantis rises from the depths of the ocean.

Secret - My eyes change color with my mood and my hair changes color with the seasons

So anyway, we wrote these little phrases and then mixed them up with the others of our color group [red, blue, orange] Than we passed them out and we each had to choose one, or all three, to write something about. A poem, a story, anything.

I wrote a short story.

Then we had to read it out loud. Everyone liked my detail, i was so happy! [By the way, I have begun posting my college work on my other blog if you want to read any of my writing!] Later we wrote of a picture we had chosen the day before. Mine was of Mustala, a Iranian woman that was in an arranged marriage to her best friend and didn't even know it.

Again, everyone loved my detail and how i could give you the character in only one and a half pages. i was so happy and proud with myself! Later in the class we started talking about poems. One of the coarse professors read the poem Jump Mama by Kurtis Lamkin. We then started a 'Inspired by...' poem. We were to take a line from the poem and write our own. [again this will be posted on my Writing blog!] We didn't have time to read them, so i'm sure we will in the next few days!

After that we went to lunch. Once again i talked to Yuxi and found that both of us were hungry and tiered! After we ate mainly salad it was time for photographing! today they had us tour the campus while taking photo's of the different places around us. It was interesting, but boring at the same time.

Then it was off to Art class.

Today we were given a rubber block that we got to carve. I drew a picture of a shadow woman in front of a sunset and the ocean [I'll post these up here later]. It was a long and pain-staking task but the teacher like it and so did i. I inked [printed] about three of them and can't wait to get the other blocks carved in order to make it more realistic!

So that was my day. Not so bad right? I hope tomorrow is interesting too!

Until my next post, this has been Angela N. Tharp.

CSU - Summer College has begun!

Ok so you all should know me, and if you don't than welcome to my blog. I am a 15 year old girl in high school, but the title of this isn't talking about high school, is it? NOPE!

I am apparently seen as gifted in the state of Ohio and was asked to join the summer honors institute! Today was my first day and i must say it was rather fun. I've decided to create a blog for each day of college, so today's the first!

I went to CSU [Cleveland State University] today at and early 8:00am. I was the first girl and the third student to arrive. I was rather excited, knowing that i was going to spend the day surrounded by my fellow artists and writers. Though i'm not very social, i expected some fun. I brought my trusty book of Tennyson's poems and plays with me for the dull moments. Little did i know that i would only be using it during breakfast [oh yes we had breakfast even after my trusty bowel of lucky charms!]

Then we were split into our course groups. I was off to writing. We all got some nifty stuff [Yes i just said nifty] like notebooks, shinny folders, and a book that i am now falling in love with [hearts start flying around....that's a little creepy.....] The book is Called Walking on Alligators and I'll be doing a book review on it later no worries!

So writing. We each wrote a small piece about ourselves, putting a small lie between the truths. everyone seemed to be surprised that i had written 17 novels and worked for a tattoo parlor. It was rather fun hearing all the interesting things people said. We also chose a picture that we had to interview. Our only homework from the day came from this picture. We have to write something on it, a poem, a story, something. I'm working on the story as i type!

After this we moved on our way to lunch. I ended up siting at a table worth sitting at. A girl named Yuxi sat next to me. I'm very glad she started talking to me, as i find her very interesting. I hope we talk more and that i get to talk about her on my blog more throughout college! She's taking physics and i can't wait to find out what she's doing. She read the first page of my novel, Black Rose Chronicles, and seemed to like it so i let her borrow it. I hope she enjoys it. We also did a 'Find a person who...' game. Everyone came running to me when they found out i could understand Elven.

After thus we went to the Art studio, leaving Yuxi behind. We'll be printing and carving stamps so I'll post some at a later date. Our printing didn't work out very well today, but alas things can not always go as planed! That's the fun of being creative! After a lot of sticky ink messes, we went upstairs to the studio and watch a man carve a print into metal for stamping. It was rather interesting and he was quite good at it!

Thus is the end of my day. I don't know if that was interesting or not, but hey, i love to write so deal with it!

Well, until my next post, this has been Angela N. Tharp!

Vampire's - Opinion Time

I am a vampire fanatic.

Not these 'kissy kissy omg you smell so good i want to eat you but i wont because we should get married!' kind of vampire. I mean the evil, demonic, blood thirsty, killing machines. You know what i mean. The ones that kept people up in the middle of the night shaking with fear.

Those are vampires.

Do not tell me that those are not vampires. Don't even try to tell me that those aren't vampires. If you even try then you've never read a real vampire book!

Look, for one vampires are a species. Blood lust and sensitivity to sunlight is a trait of that species. thus, if in a book you are reading or writing about vampires you have to give them a different weakness! It doesn't work if that's all they have!

This is not a topic about bashing Twilight. I'll talk about Twilight at a later point.

This topic is about Vampires.

Look around the world and look what we've done to the proud race of the Vampires! People have taken such a strong, fearful race and turned it into just a turn of people with powers. That's not how it was meant to be.

If your going to write about vampires, read up on the Mythology! If your reading about vampires, read mythology, its better than today's vampires.
